Once you log in to CoPilot for the first time, you will be prompted to select your maps and choose a vehicle type before you begin navigating.

Choosing Your Maps

CoPilot maps are saved directly on the device to prevent the service interruptions that occur with navigation apps that require constant wireless internet access. Tap the cloud button to initiate the download.

We recommend that you:

  1. Download only the map region or regions where you expect to drive most frequently. Other map regions can be downloaded at a later time, as needed, but fewer maps will use less memory on your device.
  2. Download maps using a Wi-Fi internet connection. After this initial download, the maps will be on the device and no internet connection is needed for navigation.

Choosing Your Vehicle Type

CoPilot uses a Vehicle Routing Profile to generate an optimal route by considering the type of vehicle that you are driving, as well as your preferences for how that vehicle should be routed. The Select Vehicle Type screens will walk you through the process of creating a Vehicle Routing Profile

If your company is using FleetPortal to ensure all of its vehicles are running CoPilot with consistent settings, you may receive an alert that "A Fleet Admin has updated your routing profile options." To access a company profile, tap the hamburger menu > Settings > Vehicle Routing Profiles. Tap the Company Profiles tab to bring up the profile sent by your administrator.
